Light Paintings
At night, the earthly foreground typically is not bright enough in comparison with the sky, so the photographer may add light to the scene with flashlights or other small portable lighting equipment. This also allows a choice in the directionality of the lighting, highlighting texture, color, or specific elements and objects. I use techniques similar to those I learned as a theatrical lighting designer to create these dramatic results.
